What's New: Mobile sessions, faster interactions & a rebuilt settings console (Jun 17–30, 2026)
A lot landed in the second half of June. The headline is a rebuilt participant session for mobile. Underneath that: a faster interaction model, redesigned facilitator stages across the board, and a new settings console.
Mobile session experience
The participant-facing session has been rebuilt for small screens. Writing notes, voting on topics, and following along while the facilitator presents are all proper mobile screens now, rather than the desktop layout squeezed down until it fits.
Notes are sticky-style cards, colour coded by category, with short labels that don't wrap on a narrow screen and a full-width add button. On the voting screen your remaining budget is visible at all times, groups scale to sit side by side, and the presenter banner stays put as you scroll. Handing the presenting role to someone on a phone works cleanly too.
The facilitator's dashboard has been updated for mobile as well, so you can check your session list, start a new one, or jump to team settings without opening a laptop.
Faster interactions
Notes appear the moment you tap "Add". The app updates locally and syncs in the background instead of waiting on a server round-trip, and voting works the same way. On a slow connection the difference is hard to miss.
It also cleared up the duplicate-action problem, where tapping quickly registered the same thing twice. Each optimistic update carries a correlation id now, so the app can match what it drew against what the server confirmed.
Redesigned stage interfaces
The collect, group, discuss, vote, and summary stages all have new facilitator consoles, with clearer prompts in the coaching bar at each step. The note input stage has an escape hatch too: skip straight to presenting when the group finishes early.
Group stage picked up a batch of fixes along the way:
- the coaching bar appears once all groups are confirmed
- group headers space correctly, and long titles no longer truncate
- expanded groups show the coloured left border for their category
- dragging a note between groups actually moves it
Discuss has a new coachbar, a clearer action item sidebar, and correct tier gating on the Pro+ features. Summary lays the outcome out by group: one card per topic, then action items, then the AI summary if your plan includes it.
AI grouping
AI grouping animates now. Notes bundle toward the centre while the request is in flight, then spread out into their groups. The overlay no longer gets stuck on screen after the operation finishes, and the button is properly disabled on plans without AI.
Settings and admin console rebuilt
Account, team, and admin settings share a new interface: consistent navigation and layout, with the admin panel rewritten to match the rest of the app. Member management, plan and billing, integrations, and account settings all live in one place now.
The upgrade modal that appears when you hit a Pro or Pro+ feature has a two-panel layout, so it's clearer what you'd actually be getting.
Reliability
Stage transitions could be missed if your device dropped its connection and reconnected mid-session. The app resyncs on reconnect now and catches up to whatever stage the session is actually on.
As always, if something isn't working as expected or you have feedback, reach out via the in-app feedback button. Thanks for using retrospective.fun!
